Remember The Reformation Conference
“Many modern
Evangelical and Roman Catholic theologians, pastors
and para-church leaders have openly questioned the validity
of maintaining the doctrinal divide that separated the
16th Century Protestant Reformers from the Roman Catholic
religion. Some have sought to minimize these differences
while maintaining that we really have much in common
with Rome and any differences are trivial by comparison.
Others have sought to clarify the differences, admitting
that they are substantial, but maintain that these differences
are not fatal or severe enough to keep the two apart.
Still others have decided that the issues that formerly
separated the two religious communities simply do not
matter any more. Perhaps there are many who are simply
indifferent to these matters or have no interest in
doctrine at all.
We believe
that everything is at stake in this discussion. All
of true Christianity hinges upon a right understanding
of the gospel and a right understanding of the authority
that binds the Christian conscience. This conference
explores the roots of biblical Christianity, the Gospel
of Jesus Christ and the titanic struggle between Rome
and the Reformers. We believe the issues at the heart
of these struggles are still with us today.” R.
